OUR GREAT DAY OUT
We're driving to the Theme Park
And we're getting quite excited.
We're taking out the neighbours' kids
The neighbours are delighted!
Entering the car park now
We're shown to space D4
"Here we are, now take your stuff -
And mind you close the door."
Queues are forming to get in,
"No that one is too long
This one seems a better bet."
It's the slowest - I'm always wrong.
Once inside we sit right down
Map spread, we sip some tea.
"I want to ride the coasters, Mum
But first I need a wee!"
All set we gather up our things
And head for "Thunder Mine"
The line's not bad and very soon
We're on and up we climb.
Click, click, click, and up and up
We chug and reach the crest,
Then dip and rise, so fast, so free -
This ride's one of the best!
Out of our seats at every peak,
Pushed down at every trough.
At the station we all agree
"We don't want to get off!"
For something rather more sedate
We head for a dark ride.
We climb aboard a little boat
And soon we are inside.
Cruising at a gentle pace
We see a mythical village
Where pirates drink and trade in gold
While others thieve and pillage.
Here are the pirates' womenfolk
"That one looks like you, Shannon"
Across our bow there comes a shot
From a less than life-size cannon.
We're having such a lovely time
It's getting way past lunch
So we stop to have a little rest
And buy sandwiches to munch.
Then onward through the afternoon
We try all sorts of rides
The teacups and the carousels
And ones which turn insides.
There's only half an hour left
Until they shut the gates
"We've time to do just one more ride
Which is it to be then, mates?"
"Let us end with 'Thunder Mine'
The ride with which we started!"
"It's my favourite, I love it!"
I'm feeling quite lighthearted.
The end is here, the park is closed
The rides all come to a stop.
We must have walked about ten miles
And now I'm fit to drop!!
We find the car and pile in
Get settled and pull away.
The sun is setting in the sky
The end to a perfect day.
"Wow we've had a lovely time
And wasn't that coaster steep?"
"Did you enjoy today my dears?"
Ah look - they're all asleep!
