When the financially troubled mill is forced to close down during the summer, Fields makes do by going through a series of holiday-related jobs in Blackpool that lead to some clever comedic situations. We're off to a good start as we escape to Pleasure Island, near Boston. Then it's off to Busch Gardens at Williamsburg, Virginia and a ride on their brand new coaster, the Loch Ness Monster. Our journey continues to Fort Osage Fun Park in Arkansas. Another roadside attraction is Old MacDonald's Farm in Orange County, CA. Next stop is Disneyland, a great travelogue made for the Spanish speaking market. Finally we stop at Six Flags Over Mid-America to top off the vacation.

When James Brennan has to cancel his dream summer vacation and make some money for grad school. The only job he can get is at Adventureland, a tacky amusement park where the games are rigged and the rides make you hurl. But it's where he meets Em, and his roller coaster ride to nowhere turns into the best summer ever..." Bonus Features include: Deleted Scenes; The Making of Adventureland; and Feature Commentary. ANDY SHINE SAYS: Adventureland was filmed largely at wonderfully idyllic Kennywood Amusement Park (West Mifflin, Pennsylvania). However, even this marvellous setting fails to elevate the film above mediocre. The story is weak, the 'comedy' non-existent, and is basically a crude waste of everybody's time. ANDY SHINE'S RATING: Fair.
